Thanks for posting. I know Kevin Gregg gets a ton of heat on here, but this was nice to read:

It didn't take the Orioles long to see the kid was serious. On the first day of spring training, veteran reliever Kevin Gregg sat Bundy down and told him, "I get to the park at 6:45 a.m. every day -- and you will beat me here every day.'' Gregg never had to convey the message again.

Fantastic article and an amazing young man. Bundy could end up Jordan's legacy with the Orioles. Between Wieters, Machado, and Bundy, Jordan's number ones are looking pretty darn good. Also of note was Kevin Gregg talking to the young Bundy early in spring training about beating him into camp every day. That was impressive.

Is Bundy a contender for #1 prospect in the bigs for all of the mid-season lists now that Harper and Trout have seemingly graduated? Everything about this kid appears to be first-rate...watching his career unfold should be a real treat so long as he avoids injury.

One of the most interesting parts of this article is that apparently Bundy decided the 3 inning, 4 inning, 5 inning build up approach? It says he had 2 options and he decided to go with the buildup approach we have him on now. Interesting.

In a Baseball America Chat, Jim Callis was asked, "who is your early favorite for #1 prospect at the end of the season?" Answer, "Dylan Bundy."

When asked, "What should the Orioles do with Dylan Bundy?" Answer, "Clone him."

Man, I cannot wait to see what we have on our hands once he reaches the bigs. Could be our Pedro Martinez. He wasn't a big guy, either, but he was the best pitcher baseball has ever seen for about 2.5 seasons straight. Not too shabby before and after that stretch, either.

Pedro was great, but pretty different than Dylan.

I believe Dylan is pretty much the exact same size as Tom Seaver. I'd take Tom Terrific.

I'm going home next week. I sure hope he doesn't make it to Frederick before I get to see him in person. If so I might have to drive up to Frederick! It pumps me up that we have this guy.

I'm graduating here in a few days and headed back to Hagerstown, where he's scheduled to pitch 5 innings May 18 if the rotation doesn't change...I'm bringing a couple changes of underwear for that one.

Bundy, 19, is building a r?sum? that ensures his time in Wicomico County will be fleeting. Through his first four appearances, South Atlantic League hitters were 0-for-39 against him. Asheville Tourists outfielder Delta Cleary Jr. broke the string with a single Monday night, but the overall numbers are still mind-boggling: Opposing lineups are batting .020 (1-for-50) against Bundy this season, with 25 strikeouts and two walks in 17 innings.

      This is why all the talk about who's going for Means/Bradish was unnecessary.  Also why we have 7-8 decent starters.  Still might not be enough!

      That's fair. But the starter will have similar injury risk. Almost all pitchers get hurt in the modern game. That's just a reality. You have to use them while they are upright. By the way, there aren't going to be that many high end MLB starting pitchers on the market, like last year. Maybe SEA is a team who would be willing? But then they are going to want someone who is ready to help their lineup currently.

      Knowing nothing, I'm presuming this isn't major. He finished his start and did fine. No decrease in velo.

      Probably fewer good ones than in the past.  Fewer teams will want to trade now because so many more teams can get into the playoffs.

      I don't get everything right. I'm fine with you "calling me out" over some comments I made a few years ago. Feel free to find more as I'm sure there are more. Also feel free to not ask me any questions or read what i have to say about players and judge on your. I may have been a bit harsh to suggest firing people, because we don't know whether it's scouting or development or both when it comes to the international/rookie league department struggle to have hitters find success above rookie league. Basallo of course is a huge hit, and Bencosme is a nice job, especially since he was a late bloomer. Now while I see what you are doing here and trying to make me look impatient, it's more than the terrible starts by the first big crop. And I'm not saying that these guys are busts, just that their ascension to full season ball has been similar to other DSL/FCL grads outside of the two I mentioned. Go take a look at Isaac De León, Anderson De Los Santos, Stiven Acevedo (my personal disappointment because I love his tools), Luis Gonzalez, Brayan Hernández, Angel Tejada, Erison Placencia, Rolphy Cruz, Moises Ramirez, Josué Cruz, and Mishael Deson. None of them were able to compete well out of rookie ball. And I won't have mention the million plus bust that is Maikel Hernandez. Now there are varying talent levels amongst those guys, but the one constant is their almost complete inability to compete in A-ball of above. Not struggle, but sub .600 OPS numbers which to me means they were no ready to compete at this level. So now we have Tavera (who has been doing better of late and controls the strike zone), Sosa (good gap power, but Ks are becoming a red flag), Estrada and Velasquez (who actually got a nice bonus) all struggling. Tavera and Sosa certainly have tools to work from and their stories are far from written, but what I'm talking about is whatever they're doing to get guys ready to compete at this level is not working very well. Sure, they're young, but they're not significantly younger than other Carolina League teams.  So I'm not saying this new wave of hitters are busts after a month, but I am saying that every single guy going through DSL and FCL teams besides Basallo and Bencosme (Luis Valdez to a lesser extent but was a much older guy late signee) have absolute struggled above the FCL.  So at some point, the Orioles need to look internal on how they are developing hitters coming out of this program or maybe even how they scouting them. I understand how hard the system is over there to hit on kids at 14 and 15 years old, and we all should expect most of these players to fail at some point in the minor leagues, but I would like to see a few more be able to have success in A- and A ball before maybe having AA be the fail point.

      WHo's going to realistically give them better than a top 20 prospect. Most of those guys are already in the Bigs or are on bad, rebuilding, or lower budget teams. I don't see any teams who have that kind of prospect being interested in a Miller type. Maybe Caminero from the Rays? But the Rays aren't really that good this year where they are anywhere close to a Miller away from a World Series. Maybe the Rangers would give up Langford? Maybe Lawler with the Diamondbacks? That's about all I see. The Yankees, Dodgers, Braves don't have ANY top level prospects.

      Real injury or just trying to keep Ramirez/Baumann around 🤔 Means probably heading to bullpen.
